The Gala concert “Stars of the Russian ballet” was performed in the Great Hall of the People on January 23rd 2014. As an event of Sino-Russian Youth Friendly Exchange Year, the concert was hosted by China’s Ministry of Culture and Russian Embassy in China, and co-organized by CEE.
The all-star performance was joined by Maria Allash, the prima ballerina of the Bolshoi Theatre, Angelina Vorontsova, the prima ballerina of the Mikhalovsky Theatre, Denis Matvienko, the principal dancer of the Mariinsky Theatre and etc. In part I act III of classic ballet “La bayadere” was performed. “La bayadere” is considered as a great example of Russian classic ballet with high artistic value, combining complicated dramaticism and difficult dance skills. In part II the performance included pas de deux of the most famous ballet of XIV century “Le Corsaire”, the Roman ball of the epic classic ballet “Spartacus” and etc. The concert consisted of acts not only from world-famous ballets, but also from new created ballets by the Bolshoi Theatre.
First deputy chairman of the Council of the Russian Federation Alexander Torshin, special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for international cooperation in culture Mikhail Shvydkoy and the Ambassador of the Russian Federation in PRC Andrey Denisov jointly attended the gala concert. Russian Stars invited the celebrated dancers from the Bolshoi Theatre, the Mariinsky Theatre and other famous theatres, organizers said, on the all-star basis the performance was able to transcend the boundary of nations and countries. This event played an important role in further improvement of friendly connections among artistic powers of our countries.
In the year of 2014 we are meeting the 65th birthday of the People’s Republic of China and the 65th year since the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Russia. In March of last year the Leaders of our countries announced together that 2014 and 2015 will be the years of “Sino-Russian Youth Friendly Exchange”
